My wife and I spent some time yesterday at Bodine fish hatchery. What we were able to observe was the Skamania Steelhead getting spawned. What a operation!!! It was all hands on deck, Mixsawbah had sent over help to keep the process working. Each female was stripped of eggs,(approx. 4000) and sperm already collected was applied to the eggs. Ben was monitoring and collecting CWT tags. As you know Indiana has done this exact process for decades to help all states enjoy this wonderful fish. Bodine will have a representative at our spring meeting. Have some questions? They will be there to answer directly.
Just a thought,,,,, it was damn cold yesterday but the work has to get done. When the fish are ripe the operation has to take place. So regardless of weather conditions our hatchery folks are getting it done.
