I stopped by MC yesterday and drove out to the lakefront. Noticed the water levels are looking low, and if that dock can't be raised/lowered at the ramp, you'll need a long ladder to get into your boat. Looked at water levels on the army corps sight, noticed we're now 6" below long term averages. Just seems so short ago it was at record high levels. Just thought I'd throw it out there, I like using that ramp in the spring before they start "charging" out there. I'm sure it's full  of sand too, don't think MC cares much about the ramp.
There's always the ramp up the creek, but wash park is so convenient with quick lake access and ample parking (in the spring).

Michigan City gave up on trailer boats when they built the casino. I used to launch there for years at Sprague or Washington Park. This is the reason I use New Buffalo and St. Joe. and buy annual passes. Floating casinos will go down in history as a ridiculous idea...

Washington Park boat ramp comes under the Port Authority Habormaster Tim Frame 219-872-1712, but they have no equipment to remove sand/maintain ramp. That used to be done as a favor by the Parks and Recreation dept who maintain Washington Park beach and parking lot until it became and environmental issue. 2 years ago Port Authority got permit and contractor to clean out sand after some pressure/attention was applied. reason ramp cleaning barely lasted 2 years is "they" didn't want to remove large large build up of sand  behind the electrical panels which allows sand to dump into north ramp every time the wind blows.
There is new mayor who might not be familiar with issues particular to that part of Michigan City. Mayor email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , phone 219-873-1400.
Be specific if you email or call. BS and general bitching doesn't help anybody. And everything I wrote above has possibly changed from 2 yrs ago but I doubt it.
