Laurvricks are good. I just pinch the line in the jaws. The only downside to them is the one's I had rusted out quickly. Mostly, I make my own from shower curtain hooks, aligator clips and windshield wiper tubing. Get the clips and tubes at a auto parts store, shower curtain hooks at Walmart. Get black rubber tubing, not clear plastic.

Dock at MC ramp doesn't have ladder mounted yet its about 7' from dock down to water surface. Dozen or so guys fishing on pier this morning , didn't see any catching the short time I was there. Franklin St bridge still closed for repairs so you have to use back way on Center St to get over to Washington Park.

Planning/hope to use Trail Creek Marina launch. That's where we normally go. Hoping they are open? If not buzz over to the Port.

I use the same as Capt Mike has shown. As season progresses and fish get bigger we rubber band to the shower curtain holder, using a number 16 rubber band. We use that method for lead cores and copper lines.

I run Big Planer Boards and use the releases pictured. They work well with the rubber bands.  The rubber bands provide some shock absorption, acting as a mini snubber, keeping the line from prematurely releasing.   Fish USA carries them.  I was new to running them 2 seasons ago and am getting better each time I use them. Remember to put a loop in your line at the point of rubber band attachment.  Otherwise, the line will slide and won't release. And it will be so gradual, you won't hear a sound out of the clicker.  1st time out with the Big Boards, one line didn't have the loop.  Pulling in lines after fishing, we found a Coho on that line.  It was 400 yds back; we put the line out 150 ft!  Must've dragged him around the Lake for at least 2 hrs. Never released and not a peep out of the clicker. Hope your shakedown run goes well.  I'm still a couple weeks out from being ready.

I've not ever used that brand of release but they look like they'd work satisfactorily. With mine home made releases, I don't ever worry about "slippage" so I don't put any loops in the line. For that fish to pull out that much line I can only suggest you tighten the reel's drag a bit tighter.

BTW - For spring cohos I always run the lures only 50 feet behind the release. There's more a chance of running lures too deep than too shallow. If I want to get my cranks a bit deeper, I'll switch from Thinfins to Flicker Shads or deeper diving crankbaits Shad Raps. When I switch to Dodger/Flies I go to heavier inline weights if I want them deeper - up to 1 1/4 ounce.

Decided to sit it out with the wind and temp. Bummer, as we have been gearing up in high hopes.
