Just wondering if anyone is getting out this weekend. I think I'm going to try for a Sunday shakedown,  hope to put some cohos in the boat, launching out of EC.

I can't speak to East Chicago, but was out of Portage on Monday for a first trip of the season shake down cruise but ran some flat lines right out side the mouth and west wall of the entrance to the Lake, any way.  The Brown Trout bite was hot, even got a 6 lbs king and had a coho in the net that got away.  Of course, the perch bite at the Gary Flats is still going.

Thanks.....I was originally thinking perch then trolling but the forecast for the wind intensity has been steadily climbing so that will probably be a gametime decision, leaning towards maybe just trolling.  Anything special for the browns? I planned on just running some thin fins on boards

I might be out on Sunday. Perch fishing will probably be a game day call seeing wind speeds for Sunday for us as well, will bring minnows just in case. Been out twice in past week, running shoreline and trolling around Buffington Harbor and casting at the warm water discharge at Gary. No fish in those two trips. Water by EC was 34 and water at discharge was 44ish.

Yeah it might be a tad early with the cold winter compared to the last few...... thanks for the info.....If anything a good shakedown to dust off the cobwebs. I might set out big boards just for a change of pace..... never used them before but figured why not.

Good time to learn to use the big boards.  That's what I use about 95% of the time, spring through fall. Remember, inline planers were invented by tournament anglers. Not dissing them, but remember, they are fishing for $$$, not for sport.

We are planning for Michigan Cty on Sunday. Shakedown trip for us, troll around the harbor and breakwall for awhile to clear the cobwebs.
