Is there a reason the Portage fish cleaning station isn't open .Do you have to register at the office .Let me know .

There are 2 doors.  Last time I used it the west door was locked but the east door was not locked.

I'm at 50% with it, it has been unavailable three out of the six times I'vetried. Both doors chained.

Thursday it was locked with a sign saying closed for maintenance.  It's an awesome resource when you can find it open.

Lets find out what took place before we start pushing blame. It is a awesome resource, and was greatly needed and appreciated that Barb got this done for us fishermen. She took a beating by the non fishermen boaters out there inside the marina. Its possible that since its new there may be some issues to work thru. If it is associated with not being properly used, then there is an issue for sure.

Misuse is a concern.  The first time I used it I pulled up the boards to clean my mess, it was clear that not everyone has been doing that. 

It appears that there may be a problem with design. presently it sounds like the grindings etc. have not gone into the sanitary sewer like it was designed to do, since its been open. so its down until this issue is worked thru.

I'm not knocking anyone either - as this was a much needed addition to Portage - but if this is a design flaw that some engineer didn't think through, that's a HUGE problem.  If it was a contractor, hopefully they are held accountable...not to mention, it being closed on the busiest fishing weekend of the year (with some of the best fishing on the south end we've had in 10 years for multi-species), I sure hope they figure this out quick.  From the sounds of your explanation, my guess is this will probably be closed down the rest of the year.  Sewers and sanitation is usually a lengthy process.
