Fished Maxi for a few hours yesterday and ended up with 8 fat perch in the 10-14 inch range. Caught probably 15 more smaller ones that were put back. No pics, didn't think about it til just now. Fished the flats that are covered with weeds right now and surrounded by deep water. One such area is straight out from the ramp just a bit south. Depth there was around 16' with the best fish coming off the bottom. The south hump is a bit shallower and only produced really small fish. Another area that produced a few keepers is straight out from the ramp right at the drop off. The shelf there is about 11' deep and weedy. Lost a few that got tangled in the weeds. Overall, I had to move around a bit to find the larger fish but all areas were active. All fish were caught on red wigglers, bee moths and night crawlers. I know, I know, but the bait store is out of minnows until Friday. By the way, Wilsons Grain elevator on 9th street in Rochester carries bee moths, wigglers, crawlers and minnows. I asked them to look into providing leeches as well so maybe. Leeches are a killer bait for all species on Maxi. Cy's bait shop is located in Tiosa but I'm not sure what all he carries. A buddy of min has also been catching perch on Manitou this past week. Good Luck.

Thanks for the info. I've been wanting to try a few the inland lakes in our corner of the state and never seem to make the time. That's some good info to get started on. I'm off for a few days and seems like were in the doldrums between salmon and perch/steelhead might be something to look into.

Nice job, the boy and I fished there sat and sun.
Caught over 60 perch both days.
Brought home 8 or 10 perch sat and 15 sunday.
B) hit them 12 to 15 ft areas right outside the weeds, we drift until we hit one, throw on the spot lock and them move again after we don't get a bite, going to be a great ice year on Maxi Can't find any big gills anymore but never seen so many perch there.
I do have pics, need to download them I guess.

Perch rigs and minners. Or bare hook and minner.
Gettem while you can. If you get into all dinks, move on.
Good Luck
