Headed out to maxi 10/12 and on the water by 6 am Culver time. On my buddies small 14 ft boat with outdated sonar. Tried the pre dawn walleye bite with no luck. We were jigging jigs and minnows, casting blade bates, and casting/jigging mean eye jigs with kalyns grubs. At first light changed over to perch tackle. Fished any where from 10-23 fow. Fished sand flats and weed beds. Ended up with 4 keeper size perch ( 3 at 9 inches and 1 at 14 inches) tossed them back. Probably caught around 20 dinks. Also caught a bonus smallie. Fished mostly the east end of the lake. Weather was perfect with 4 mph winds and overcast. Thinking the heavy rains the days prior did'nt help. This only the 3rd time I've fished here. Love the lake. Anyone have any tips of locations, tips, and tackle being used that works would appreciate it.

I went to Maxi this weekend for the first time. It was a bust as all the parking was full by the public launch by the time I got there. Looks like a nice lake but I guess I need to get there earlier next time.

This lake is about 20 min from my campground that keeps me off the big lake many weekends in the summer. Everyone in the area talks about how great the fishing is. But I still have yet launch there. I looked at the ramp once and the set up does not seem to friendly for a solo launch. Since my wife is absolutely worthless for help. Don't tell her I said that lol. But I think I am going to make an effort to try it next year.

Its a good lake. Its fed by 3 streams that have been worked on by conservation to keep silt and contaminants out. Water is crystal clear. The contour of the lake is wicked. Its not an easy lake but a fun challenge. Definitely have to get there early. Before sun up is key.
