I will be attending a family reunion on the southeast corner of Lake Huron this coming week. More specifically in the Grand Bend, Ontario area. Doing a little research I found a nice Marina within 20 minutes of our rental. I realize the fishery crashed years ago, but curious if anyone has any info on fishing Huron. Back and forth on dragging on the boat with to give it a go. Any information is welcomed and appreciated. Thanks in advance. Nick

Maybe do i google search? Saw plenty of pics that compared to the south end. Half day charter might be cheaper concidering fuel and no worries about bearings

I have a customer in Alpena, MI. He has a slipped boat on Huron and says they catch alot of Lakers and some kings here and there. Its obviously pretty far from where you are going.....but its all I got.

Thanks guys. I've been doing a ton of Google searches and not really coming up with any reports from that portion of Huron. Called the local Marina and struck out there as well. 2 charter captains out of Grand Bend were understandably reluctant to divulge any rough locations. One was booked for the week and the other available for Monday (looks like unfavorable conditions that day). Looks like it'll be a last minute decision on my part.

I dont have any info for the area that you are headed for but know this for the lake from last week. A buddy of mine fished out of Rogers City, way north but, did some trolling and was successful on the lakers and a few steelhead. Had a king rip a dipsey but did not boat it. The steelhead and laker fishing is ok with very few kings is the report from most of the guys he talked to. Arounn Saginaw bay the walleye fishing is pretty good and the farther south I think the walleye, bass, and pike fishing is more of what the fishery is known for. Getting into the St Clare system the guys I know fish the Canada Side for musky, walleye, and bass. Dont know if this is any help but it is all I got for that area.

Thanks for everyone who chimed in. Ended up getting a call back from a local charter captain who had an availability come up for Wednesday! Crossing my fingers that the weather forecast holds up and I don't get weather bit like I did in Key West earlier this year. He gave me decent reports of some smaller kings 6-8 pounds with a few steelies and some lakers mixed in. I'll definitely post pictures if/when I make it out.
