Went to the Texas Gulf coast for the second February in a row. Each year was a bit different, but plenty of fish, each trip. Last year, really big red snappers and some kingfish. This year, smaller red snappers, plenty of vermillion snappers (bee-liners), all fun in the sun. I was hooked up to a 150 pound shark for longer than I wanted. Too much for my 30 pound spinning outfit.

Looks like an awesome trip there!

What kind of sharks are those? And how do they taste?

I was told they were blacktip sharks and are very good to eat. Unfortunately, I didn't catch any of the small ones and the boat limit is one large shark per day so we broke off the one I hooked. I've personally never eaten shark. From what I hear, some are terrific, others are horrible. I've caught quite a few over the years but all were released.
