Hello, I decided to try some Fall Brawlin, Walleye Slamming this year.
We rolled into Magee Campground on the 23rd midday and used that day to settle in and get some good BBQ courtesy of the campgrounds BBQ dinner- that was money well spent.
We set out monday for Mazuriks launch, headed east and set up in 40ft of water. We were getting some action but decided to go a little shallower in about 29 ft of water and that's where we stayed for the remainder of our trip. We found active pods of fish. Bandits back 70ft IB Frozen, Fruitdots, were the standouts while Khaki, and of course, Blue Chrome, all took fish. Took limits all three days we fished while Tuesday was a blow day.
We hit the road early Thanksgiving day to make it home in time for football and Turkey.
It was a great trip, we hit a nice window for fishing, it looks pretty nasty out there for awhile. While we didn't put a fish on the leaderboard- 9lbs was our best- it was a great late fall trip.
I will say I thought I had the Brawl winner on my line..... my top board went screaming back, peeling drag. When i grabbed the rod I felt weight on there like never before. It took me 25 minutes of finessing the drag and making slow gains to get that fish in. When i had about 20ft left my heart started racing a bit thinking we may actually have the winner........... then a 22incher showed up, all three trebles squarely in the middle- I brought that fish in at 90° to the boat- all that weight was simply the water drag.......what a bummer, lol

Lake Erie- no place like it
