Thanks for the update Ben.

Looks like the language for private land is now a little more understandable. With the 3 inch case length that will limit some calibers on the top end which could be a good thing. So now listing that .243 and or 6MM is your minimum, then I assume that a 3 inch case length then covers the maximum.

Once again we who use the public lands to hunt have another hurtle to jump. Can't shoot does and now we have to bring out the slug guns if you still have one and the very expensive slugs you need to use. My 44mag rounds are about 35 cents each and the slugs are about $3.25 each. Not a bit more deadly or accurate either just a bunch more expensive.

I also have been using a 44 mag for deer but I hunt private land. I agree that it has also the same range as a 12 gauge slug much cheaper to shoot that's why I have 1. The issue I have is these people that want to use these longer range rifles. Again I hunt private land but that makes it worse. Over the years I've seen people shooting from their truck at deer running. It just scares me to think these types of people will be shooting more powerful guns. Of course they were most likely using them before. I just don't see the need to be able to shoot at 300 yards or more. Just my 2 cents to this topic.

I am with you Wildcat. I push a 200 gr Hornady jacketed hollow point using 29 gr of H110 at a speed of 2250fps out of my marlin 1894. Sighted in an inch high at 100yds I am 9 inches low at 200. At that range I am still carrying about 800ft/lbs of energy. It takes 500 to humanly kill a deer according to experts. A 200yd shot is a long one around here. Don't need the big centerfires IMO.
