TOPIC:

I was out hunting for turkeys this morning and I am still birdless this season. I sat a field edge hoping one would show up and allow me to call him in and slap the pecker clean off his face. But as I eluded to it earlier, that didn't happen. Got bored with the mosquitoes eating on me so I got up and walked about calling hoping to get a response. I am sneaking along and I see something on the ground I have not seen before except on the National Geographic channel. There they are, 2 box turtles getting busy!! The bottom one got shy when I neared and drew its head in. The one on top stayed plugged in and I am sure it was grinning happily. You just can't tell with turtles but you figure hey he is a dude. Maybe tomorrow I can catch those turkeys with their minds elsewhere also.

Two years ago, my son and I were out doing much the same and came across a pair of box turtles in flagrante delicto. 17 year old son didn't know what to say.

Surprisingly they don't make any noises when occupied this way. Makes me wonder how the old joke about turtles tappin' even got started.
