Had an interesting (and welcome) harvest yesterday. I was driving to a nearby spot to hunt hen of the woods mushrooms I spotted a snapping turtle along side the highway. I nabbed him as well as a fine harvest of mushrooms. When I used to work at Willow Slough I'd get a half dozen or so snappers each year. Turtle was one of our family favorites. This is the first one I've picked up in several years.
The mushroom hunting was very good, as well. My wife and I picked four big "hens" like this as well as several "chicks."
