So deer hunting is winding down and we will be looking forward to spring fishing. But I was wondering how your deer hunting was.

For us it was a pretty typical season. We hunted the last day of the late rifle season, and we have a pretty good amount that will hopefully winter over well. Coyotes seem down, another good sign. For us the deer have moved to feeding hard on field corn left and winter wheat .
My son saw 8 bucks his last evening, from spikes to small 8's. He wished he had a camera with. Evidently we have a pair of 6's that have opposite side racks that are growing down instead of up.

Our season seems fairly normal as far as what we brought home. I did not get a buck this year. I also didn't hunt nearly as much as in previous years. Mainly due to the upcoming fusion I had done on 12-18-30. The woods seemed to have a lower amount of deer this year. Not sure why. There was a brush fire at the SW edge of our woods a week before gun season. After that the woods were pretty empty. Anyway the freezer is full & we'll once again be enjoying the fruits of our labors all year long. After all it's time to get ready for fishing again. That supply is starting to run low. Just in time to start filling back up.

My season was pretty typical. I saw lots of deer and I harvested a nice buck. I'm in reduction zone so I took a doe in late September. There was a lot of shooting going on south and west of the property this year. Not sure what that was all about. I pulled my cards yesterday and there's still a few nice bucks on the property.

Well the last month has been a grind for any deer activity I don’t hunt any big ground mostly under 5 acres!! However I did have my best year to date !! I shot a decent buck with a droptine unfortunately it had broken off half the droptine!! Followed by the next morning My son 11 yrs old shot a great 10 pointer for his first deer ever!!!

I was fortunate to have an excellent deer season, hunting in southern Michigan. Hunted 3 times with my mom, who started hunting at age 63 and it still gung ho about it. We shot 5 deer between us, and she made a picture perfect shot on her doe. And did the gutting and dragging herself








I was also fortunate to shoot a decent-for-Michigan buck after he was hot after a doe and bedded down 35 yards from me, and my 2 year old had the chance to come out and "find" it, she was super fired up about it. And she also was very much into grinding it up into burger and using the vacuum sealer

Can't wait to take her out hunting in a couple years!

Ben, you need to get a deer cart. The wheels make it so much easier than the sled or just dragging.

Deer carts are definitely easier but they don't double as a self-contained unit that keeps blood and gunk off the inside of the vehicle! I never have a very long drag at the spots I hunt, so it's not a real big deal

Ben I used a sled about 5 years ago n couldn’t believe how much easier it was to haul out the deer!! Always keep it close by during hunting season now!! This past season though!!!! I had to drag my buck 600 yards it was the only way to do it!! But it kicked our butts!!! He had the second biggest body I’d ever seen!! Still that sled helped TREMENDOUSLY!!
