So having the same farm to hunt for over 4 decades, we get to see some really cool bucks. But occasionally we see bucks that we would like to get out of the gene pool. Burn a buck tag when we have to.
So my son who usually out does me did it again. He took out Mr. Ugly. This deer was trying to service a few does, as you can see he is not the usual deer we take. But it gets better! When we have taken bucks over the  years that have shown old wounds. We figured this to be the case with this one. But, we were wrong. No visible old wounds, no broken bones to be see. This poor fella must of at one time been hit by a car possibly. As he was skinned out, it just got uglier and uglier. One whole side had massive old blood clotting. Old black clotting and the hide was blackened from the trauma. Even the good side shown old blood clots with in the backstraps, and hind leg down to the ankle.

Was it any good to eat? Bet it was like chewing fur and hair covered rubber truck tires. Good one to cull from the local population.

Hey Don hope all is well. No he lost the whole deer. Surprised to see how much old clotting was still in the grain of the meat on the good side. First one I have ever seen that looked so nasty. Agreed a good one to take out of the herd.

Happy Turkey Day Don!!!!!

Thank you Ed, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. In fact, Happy Thanksgiving to all the Southenders . No bucks yet for me this season yet. I passed on my best during Halloween pre-rut. It doesn’t get any better or easier the later it gets in the year down here either. Been a slow deer season. All I have to my credit is a doe that dressed 135 pounds.

Now giving more thought behind this poor guy I wish we had him tested for EHD. A good friend suggested looking more into it. I have and came across pictures that looked similar to what we observed. With all the trauma that was involved with no broken bones makes me wonder now. EHD doesn't always kill deer off. Some do suffer for months with the disease. Some survive.
