I am starting to get a "tad" more into ice fishing. I was debating on weather to get a Vex/Marcom/Hook - ultimately I decided to get the lowrance ice pack (soft case, ice ducer & battery) and throw my HDS-5 in it. Removed it from the bow of the boat and she is ready to go - easy peasy. $150

She will get tested in January.

Nice! I just got a humminbird ice 35 few weeks back and after some help from another Fisherman on the ice I almost wonder how I caught fish so blindly before! The HDS-5 should be a much more helpful tool with the GPS feature. I'm wondering, did you have to get another transducer or were you able to use the one from your boat?

The Icepack was the bag, battery and ice transducer so it had everything i needed, just had to add the HDS-5.

I am pretty well in the same boat. Never been a huge fan of ice fishing. Couple buddies say fishing with a flasher is the only way to go. So I picked up a Garmin Striker 5dv instead of a standard flasher. I liked the idea of having maps and the standard fish finder option along with the flasher. That was a bit more expensive at $400. Haven't used it yet.

defiantly the only way to head out on the ice. I use a humminbird 385 ci with navionics chip. If you took that thing from me I would sell the rest of my ice fishing gear! lol Do you have a flasher mode on that one dirty?? That's what I like to use, best of both worlds, a flasher, and GPS
