TOPIC:

Put in at EC, late this morning maybe 11am. Plan was to poke around and see what we could find in the bass department and if it was too slow or crowded we’d set up and troll. Couple guys inside Buffington and around Dean Mitchell already so we were surprised to find the discharge at Gary empty when we pulled up. We ended up playing around in there casting jerkbaits, tubes, and jigs. Bass were pretty slow, only hookked up maybe 5 or 6 and only three of them found there way to the net. All nice chunky fish but for some reason I didn’t;t get the camera out for any. I had a couple browns that slashed at my jerkbait at the side of the boat as I was pulling it out of the water, but never hooked one. My Buddy got this one to hit a shad rap.

There are a tone of carp in there, a foul hooked a couple and had one eat a jig which was no surprise. But I was shocked when this guys showed his head at the side of the boat. First carp I remember fair hooking on a jerkbait.



I also hooked what I am guessing was a yellow bullhead in the 4-5lb class on the jerkbait. Definitely not a flathead, looked like a channel cat but was very yellow and had rigid spikes on the dorsal and pecs. Should have grabbed a pic.

Finally, couldn’t pass up this photo op. Security told me I was the 62nd boat to launch today. This ***hole double parked across two spots, which fine whatever you have a 60k truck and 60k boat. But at least pull the f***ing trailer all the way out of the aisle. I left him a short note on his windshield. Wish I had a ziplock full of old skein to smear on there.

I’m hoping I’m not being lied too. Trying to get my guy to admit it if he fucked up. So I can try and make it right.

What would you expect from a professor driving a Yellow trailer...
I’ll park at remote lot All way back next time. And walk to launch for 1/2hr. I think we should leave front parking for derby drivers.

The last time I fished out of EC and parked in that lot half the trucks in the parking lot got broken into. Talked to the Security gaurd and he told us not our problem we don't own that lot and are not required to watch it. It is not their lot but you are required to park there and not inside the gated lot that they are required to watch, Huh. That was a few years ago so I am not sure if it is still Mill Property or if it has been donated to the marina. But just another of the reasons I wont go back, if I cant trust my truck and trailer will be watched after for vandels and thieves let alone irresponsible boaters, and in addition to the fee increase, turning the cleaning station off a few weeks ago, sometimes late on placing launch docks has me turned off.

Oh, back to the subject at hand Great catch Southshore way to get after the full spectrum in the lake.
