I have noticed that the thin fish hooks are not real tough. I caught a big king last summer that bent one hook nearly straight. I was lucky as both hooks were in the king. I think they are VMC hook.

Howd the Sams pro setup work for your boards?

The worked great Tim. Took a few fish to get them dialed in. Wont be a problem with summer fish. I was so nice not to fight the board!!! :)

Yep - they are not built for the big of a fight. Conversely if I would not have horsed him I think the hooks would have been fine. The drag ripping put me briefly into summer mode :)

Got out of Gary today from 8 -12:30 a.m. and went 15 for 19(coho) with several throwbacks. Red brads and newly painted fire tiger thin fin took most hits off boards. Dipseys and riggers were quiet. Jointed orange/firetiger j-9, orange 00 dodger with green and blue flys took several hits also. 1 fish on fishlander with 2 colors of lead. Water was nice- surface temp around 41 degrees.

Thats a beautiful fish, and I hate coming onto a new board for my first post and making a little controversey but that fish looks like a GIANT COHO to me, the head, anal fin, and coloration/spots all look like a COHO. To add to the thread, I was able to sneak out for a couple hours after class yesterday with my dad. We spent the majority of our time running around checking perch numbers, took one pass up the lighthouse wall to the discharge and back down running three flatlines and didn't take a hit.

I thought the same thing when I caught it. The entire tail had spots though which suggested to me it was a king. The mouth really seemed like a tweener between coho and chinook - was not definitive to me. I saw the spots on tail and she went into the box as a "king" lol. Didnt really think about it after that.

Now staring at the pictures, I still cant tell for sure either way.

Curious to see other thoughts?

First pick looks like a definite king. Second pic on the table kind of does resemble a coho. I would go with king though based on the pic that was taken when it was "fresh"
