Trolling in the spring I run 4 planners on each side of the boat 2 are flat lines the other has a 1/2 ounce keel weight and the fourth has a 5/8 keel weight

I had 4 boards out with brads thinfishes on the outside and hotntots on the inside, all diffrent colors, that didn't get touched. The hit in the propwash came when I took a board off a hotntot and stuck it in a rod holder to put away the board.
I take that back, I did run a 2nd dodger on the outside that quickly got replaced when I saw the spoon get 2. My mistake was was putting on the brads instead of a spoon. I figured the brads would have been closer in color but now I think it's the profile the fish wanted......

I've seen many times a weighted planer board line was snubbed when the same RTs or J9s were crazy good. The extra couple feet down made the difference. If you are running in-lines and need something to keep the board away from the lure when there's a fish on the line, use a swivel.

Like AP says, no dodgers until the water warms up into the 40s.

If you are worried about your dodger spinning, use a longer leader on the fly. Switch to 18 inchers or so for the little dodgers and drive as fast as you want to the next fish.

Does anyone have a dive chart for Brads thin fish? Or how far back do you run them? Ive looked online and can't find anything. Debating on just using the chart for the thin fin.

Don't worry about the specifics too much. Run them 30 to 50 feet back and you will be fine.

As S-Cracker said, you are overthinking things. I use a 50 foot clear leader on top of a hi-vis line and attach the planer board release on the hi-vis line a few feet from the line/leader knot. That puts all my planer board lures the same drop back. The only time I have to measure or watch a line counter is when I'm tying on the leader.

Early spring cohos isn't like fishing walleyes where you need specifics to keep the lure just above the weeds, bottom or sticks on the bottom. And you don't have to hit 'em in the face with the lure to catch 'em. Salmon will gladly swim (especially up) several feet to snack on a lure.
