Had a great day yesterday. Went straight north to the state line. Had a first timer and a second trip guy with me. Day started off by dropping my 100 copper into the lake while setting lines. Finally got everything else set. It was pretty choppy at first. I had looked at the FishWeather wind forecast and was pretty confident the waves would settle down. They did and it was beautiful!
Fishing started really slow for us but just kept getting better. Had riggers down 30 and 45 feet. Started taking coho on a buffalo bill slider. That spoon has been fantastic for me early in the morning until around 10 or so.
Our first king hit a dipsey 75 foot out on a f/f. Got that one in and it then took another 30 minutes later. Then my 300 copper started firing. It also had a f/f on it. We took three more kings.
Then some monster hit a thinfish flatline. I’ve never seen a fish completely strip a full mono line before. I couldn’t stop it or even slow it. Finally thumbed the spool because I was out of line and snap. So wish I could have seen that one. Never found my board (has my name and number on it but have never gotten one back before).
Ended the day with 5 kings, 2 lakers, 8 coho, and two guys that now want to fish everyday lol.
I was amazed by how few people were out. Was also surprised at how small most of the coho we caught were.

Awesome job John!! I was also shocked at the size of the coho. We got a number of decent ones, but lots of smalls.

Those teeny 'hos are "bug eaters" They are fish which didn't come into the shallows when the bait was in there, just swam around out in the middle eating ankle flies and the few lady bugs that float out that far. It's probably a good sign that we'll have some 'hos around for the next month or more - and they will eventually figure out how to eat "meat" and start growing.

Great day on the lake John. Hopefully I things will work out for a Thursday/Friday trip for me. I have several UV flies that resemble the one you were using.
