Headed out of portage well before daybreak and was surprised no other trailers were at the launch. Safety should always be #1 to everyone, me included. With that said the lake was fairly calm close to shore as I made my way to the discharge at Gary works. I pulled up and scanned the whole break wall for fish. It was loaded today!  Last weekend we barely marked a fish so that was a pleasant sight to see. I spot locked the minnkota and from the second cast it was nonstop action for about 1/2 an hour. Casting a shallow diving crank in an orange color did the best. No other boats were at Gary light first thing. I went 3/9 while casting and decided to troll around a bit. In short order I finished my limit and ended up throwing back half a dozen more. While trolling, my 3 color leadcore w/ stinger spoon did the damage and caught the biggest fish. Around 8:30am two other boats showed up and setup trolling. I almost didn’t go out this morning but I’m glad I did. Plenty of fish around and tomorrow looks to much nicer out. My biggest 3 fish were over 21”. Good luck fellow fisherman!

Typically I rub the filets in olive oil and then salt’n’pepper. Then I sear them at high temp on the grill for about 3 min., then I flip them onto foil and cook about 13 minutes on medium temp. Try it out and you can’t go wrong with some variations!
