Trying something new this year. I'm adding 2 - wire dipsey diver rods to the spread. I'm using Convector 30 reels, Okuma Tournament 9' diver rods and installed Twilli tips. Spolled the reels with 1000' of 19 strand Torpedo wire. Hopefully these aren't a huge pain to work with. It they are I could always spool up braid and have 2 more nice diver rigs. A lot of talk about wire out catching the rest of the spread so we shall see!

I'm very interested to see your results Baron. I have not yet experimented with wire - have only been using braid. Let us all know how they work out for you.

I also added two more rigs to try out this year. I went with 300 ft. of 45 lb. copper. Could not decide witch one would be best, wire or copper and just went with the copper. If it doesn't work out, oh well the wife will never know. Rudey

I personally use braid on my dipsey reels. I have fished with wire on a friends boat and did not have any problems.

I havent been using wire to to long but the fish we have caught on it are a heck of a lot of fun to catch! Something about the fight on wire that is different.

Wire has less resistance in the water than even braid...it feels like the end of your pole is directly connected to the fish..its an awesome feeling when having a king on it. You will have to see for yourself!
