I just got my new stash of fly tying materials from Purple Taco. I ordered about a dozen different mylar films this time. I am highliting some of them as they are really great colors and are made up from a more strong, durable and stiffer film. They will make flies that should keep their shape in the water better. The Mirages are awesome and the Hyper Blue UV is new and the Mirage Cracked Ice will be fantastic in a coho fly. I like using silver and gold as a highlite color and the new Holo Silver Rainbow is a got to have. It is going to be a feature in a bunch of flies this spring. The owner, Leroy, told me about this new silver as a replacement for the other holographic silver he sells. Glad he did. Good people there that will talk and listen to you and treat you like you are a favorite customer. In each order you get a little more that you ask for, and that is a great way to conduct business

Good stuff. Purple Taco's the place and you might want to try the bandaboo. The fine cut really makes the flies pulse in the water.

thumbs up for Purple Taco. I buy the "bullet heads" from them, as well. They also post some good tutorials on YouTube about how to fabricate flies. The only color I'd have included in the order, Don, is some glow-in-dark material. I use it, at times, as the only color or with just a touch of some other color, to 50/50 to just a touch of glow with some other color.

I took your advice BN and ordered some glow tinsel to make some flies. They have white tinsel that glows either green or blue. The green glow works very well in respect to its ability to glow after a 30 second light exposure while the blue glow was visible but not as much. Do you add glow to your early season coho flies? I know a lot of larger flies for kings and cohos all feature some glow material.

Most of my early season flies are not glow. Heavy on blues, greens, silver, gold and black - darker colors. The fun thing about making your own, however, is experimenting so tie up a few with glow tinsel and see how they work. Could be the new killer pattern!
