I am thinking of replacing some mag and standard spoon sized split rings. I am looking to get some heavier duty ones from Spro or other name brand. Does anyone know what the actual sizes of those rings are? Also has anyone put two rings back to back and then added the treble to the spoon to cut down hooks being thrown? I read something about it, it seems to remove some of the leverage the fish exerts on the spoon during the fight.

The replacement rings I have on my boat are spro, not sure of the size.  I will have to check next time I am on my boat.  As far as adding split rings to the hook side, I wouldnt.  To what degree I do not know, but it would affect the overall dynamics of the spoon.

With all of that being said, also check your spoons anytime you put them out.  Many spoons get bent easily (mostly in the net) and that drastically affects how they run.

Most spoons use #4 split rings. Be careful which brand you use. Some are softer than others & are made of thinner material.
