TOPIC:

Looking to add a manual downrigger or two to our 16 foot Smokercraft.  Currently looking at either the cannon lake-troll or easi-troll.  We pretty much fish February-May, and only take our boat out to 65 feet at the deepest, so not really looking for anything too beefy and can't really justify the costs of an electric downrigger for the amount of times we fish and the depth we fish.  So just looking for some input on either the cannon lake or easi-roll or any other manual downrigger.  Thanks in advance for any help!

For manuals I've always been partial to Big Jon. You can pick up a used set for pretty inexpensive second hand, and they have great customer service and support.

 I used easi trolls alot back in the day, just for your very reasons. As far as the choice between those two, I'd pick the easi troll. Get a little longer boom, a little more cable, and the depth counter
is on the spool vs being out on the end of the arm. Doubt you'll go wrong with either one.

My first "non-home-made" downriggers were Walkers. They worked perfectly. At the time, Walker would upgrade the DRs to electric for $100 so after a few years I switched to electrics.  Still using those!  If those Walkers are still available, I'd go with them.  Easy operate, just crank backwards a little and down go the weights. Crank forward until they stop and the clutch is set perfectly.  Just my two-cents.
