Had some probe issues this weekend and my troubleshooting led to me realizing a copper prong has been severed and stuck inside the battery pack.  There must have been some unintended moisture that led to corrosion which I find odd since I’ve been uber careful about cracking it open after every outing to dry out, nonetheless there had to be a little in there for this to happen.  Along with this I’ve only used the unit maybe 5 times this year after recently buying it new.  I’ve heard good things about FH customer service and hope they’ll be able to help me out.  Has anyone had any similar experiences with a broken probe similar to this?  Did you end up having to buy a new one?

I have an older unit, and mine has a fixed repair/replacement for flat rate of $185 for the probe or display - cheaper than a new probe for sure

I just mounted the transducer in late May, and I think the first time it didn't work for me was pre-4th of July.  Even if I did forget to crack it open to dry after use, I'm surprised one event could cause this level of damage.  My research says this is a worst-case scenario other than cracking/losing the probe itself as there really isn't a great way to repair these prongs.  Email has been sent to them I'll keep the board posted on what they say.

I use a little silicon grease on the o-rings and don't over tighten. I also only open mine at end of season. Good luck - they do have good customer service

Update: FH is having me ship the unit back and offering me a full replacement for no charge.  Big thanks to their team, hard to beat customer support like this.

saw new style probe they have. Rechargeable battery wireless, smaller, lighter. No worries about "o" ring sealing, batteries corroding. Did they offer an upgrade by chance?

Yes, they did offer an alternative discount for a new lithium transducer, but I chose the full replacement as it still would have couple hundred bucks.
