I got out of the house for a couple hours and drove around looking today (Thursday).
I wasn’t expecting to find much and wasn’t disappointed. The warm up has the rivers pumping high and muddy. The weir on Trail was nothing more the an 18” standing wave in the torrent. There were a couple Steelers visible milling around in the eddy in front of the ladder. I watched a couple jump right into the closed door and saw a couple others shimmy right over the dam. Pretty cool to seem them coping with the conditions. I’m sure the hard freeze and break up was rough on the fish in the creek. MC Harbor had a lot of ice a debris but enough open water to try and fish although the ice flows were quite a pain. Portage was wide open but exceedingly muddy. The midline at the harbor entrance was looking pretty fishy, but alas the boat was not with me. I half assed a few casts with a blade bait to no avail. Couple guys working too hard to fish bobbers at MC had no luck either. Won’t be long til we’re back in the game, but today was not that day.

Thanks for the report! I have been think about if its time to drag the boat out or not!
