Looking for any suggestions on who to look at for boat insurance. I know that a big sticking point can be Agreed Value vs. Actual Cash Value. I'm not looking to have to file a claim and be told that value on the boat has depreciated so much I can't get it repaired or replaced. I've got a quote through Progressive but its for Actual Cash Value. And I've looked at BoatUs which looks to also be Actual Cash Value. Anyone have any experience with Ski Safe (Geico?). Anything I should look for specifically? I know personal property can also be added to cover fishing tackle and other gear. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I would say go with whatever makes sense. I used to have progressive but switched to state farm as me and the wife got all of our insurance under one name. I have my boat insured at its value (whatever that truly is??) and $15k of gear. I think its $400 per year, kind of high IMO but I know I am well covered as well.
Just remember, if your boat is stolen, sinks. or is in a bad accident - you want to be able to replace it. I would not go with cut rate insurance. I would think progressive, geico - other decent names should be good. I have no experience with BoatUs. Im sure others on here do though.
