I took this from Facebook Indiana DNR posting. Just sharing for everyone here.
Check out this video of adipose fin clipping of Coho Salmon which will be stocked in the spring of 2016.
These fish will go into the St. Joseph River in Mishawaka. They will be the first time Indiana has stocked spring yearling Coho since our program began in the 1970's.
With the rearing of the larger yearlings we hope to have better survival when they return as spawning adults in 2017 and 2018. We will be able to assess this as they move through the fish ladder and are counted with video computer software program. We can identify the missing adipose fin on video and be able to evaluate the return of spring-stocked yearlings versus fall fingerlings.
