South End Tournaments are meant to be a low stakes way of getting everyone together and having some fun fishing with a little competition thrown in. The tournaments last year were a nice success and I think everyone had a great time. We look forward to continuing this trend. If you are new to the lake or even just a casual Lake Michigan Angler, it is a great opportunity to meet some great folks and learn while your at it. You just might even take home some dough!

Please note an important rule change:

Entrants must be a member of thesouthend.org (free registration) AND at a rank level of Alewife or higher (requires 10 forum posts). The purpose of these tournaments is to have fun, get to know each other and build relationships out on the lake and in the forum to build a better fishing experience and community. This only works well if everyone is active on the water and in the forums.

The target is Steelhead for this tournament and the fishing should be good!

If I bring a team of homers to the tourney we would not be able to compete Jeff?

I think as long as you are the registered captain, you will be ok. We will double check with Jeff.

Just captain would have to reach the rank. Just like other tournaments where the captain has to be a member.

That is good. I am trying to get a few more new souls to succumb to the addiction of southern Lake Michigan salmon fishing. Hopefully we will even catch a few.

So u can weigh lake trout in this tournament?

Max of 3 of any species so yes 3 of them.

Yes. Max of 3 of any species. Lake trout, coho, chinook, Steelhead, brown trout.

5 total! Only 3 of any species. Big fish will have to be a Steelhead.
