Hello,
With the favorable weather conditions, I decided to take my son out in the afternoon to see if we could catch a few smallmouth.
I don't go for them much but really wanted to get the boat out as it has been awhile.
We didn't slay them but i did manage two just east of Buffington, along the riprap. One was small but the other was just over 18" and put up a good fight. It was nice to bend the rod again.

Depending on winds. I try to launch Hammond Marina but if winds effecting the Hammond area then I'll launch Cal Park.I usually hit the river on Sundays less tugboat/barge traffic. I fish the the two fingers north of 106th street bridge west side and the one south of 106th Street bridge west side. Sometime barges are tied along wall which covers the fishing spots but sometimes the fingers are open and lots of fun. Only tried the east side a few times , I do not as good as the west side. Although less barges are tied along walls on east side. Don't overlook that.Don't really haven't had to venture any where else down river, do well this area.I'm a drop shot guy , green pumpkin half shells.Lot's of rock bass (good size) and a few small largemouth.Good luck, be safe.

Thank you so much, sounds like a nice place to take the wife,  she doesn't like the big lake so much.  I was looking at satellite images and i seen some ramps around 136th and torrence was wondering if you set in there but it looks like you come in off the big lake and stay up that way a little.
I really appreciate the info, never really given a thought to the river, but i will now, thanks again
