I was in Lowe's the other day getting some electrical stuff to wire up a motion light I am putting on the barn. They had a display of automotive type fuses in the isle I was in so I decided to get a selection for the Searunner in case one was to pop. They had the conventional ones but, the one's that caught my eye were the ones that when blown have a circuit that will be made and a red LED will illuminate making it very simple to find the problem.
I have not seen these before and they may well have been around for some time, I don't know. I thought these would be a worthwhile upgrade for your boat or auto's fuse panels. Not really cheap at about a dollar per fuse, I figured they would be worth 10 times that laying on my back in the dark under the helm trying to find why my radio or sonar/gps is not working.

don all the fuses in your boat installed by calumet marine are the blue sea brand easy ID fuses
been using them on our rigging jobs since they came out over ten years ago
also remember to identify the blow fuse the load has to be there = switch turned on for what ever the fuse is protecting
we have a kit in stock to convert boat to these fuses @ a discount over individual box prices

Frank, I seen that you used the easy ID fuses on the boat. Good to know. Looks like the ones from Hewes are the standard type. Hopefully I won't have any electrical problems on the boat causing them to pop.

Don: Great Tip! I've copied it to use in a future Basics and Beyond column in GLA.
