Ever thought about how much wear and tear the springs, shackles and bolts which connect the springs/axles/trailer on your rig? No grease fittings, just a thin nylon bushing inside the spring's eye. Constantly dunking in and out of the water, subject to dirt, road salt etc. and no way to give it any love? I thought about it one day as I moved slowly through a rough parking lot and listened to the squeaks and groans my "understructure" was making. So with well over 100K on the trailer, I'd guess, I decided it was time for a rebuild.

So I bought new springs, new bolts, new shackles and this morning my nephew and I did the dirty deed. With a good strong impact wrench and a couple of jacks and jack stands, it only took about 1 1/2 hours. Take a look at some of the hardware we removed. Waddaya think, could I have squeezed another couple seasons out of it?

Total parts cost for 2 axles (shopping online) was about $160 bucks - no Chinese parts.
