Anyone have any info on coho? Heard guys where out in portage and found some. Looking to go tomorrow, the 29th.
Any info would be great. For all you walleye guys, Monroe Michigan is hot right now. Was out there Friday and caught 7 nice fish.

I don't do it anymore, but I used to target cohos in early December. I'd head offshore to the 'tri-state area" and use the same Rts, J-9s and other lures I'd use in the spring. That was before GPS and chart plotters so if we caught a couple, we'd do a 180 to go back through the area. Didn't do it often. Usually caught something, occasionally limits (2 or 3 guys). Finding the perfect day was the issue with the aluminum boats I had then.
That's probably still a good bet. Fish were usually about the same size as they are in early March.

I've heard of shore/surf guys catching them in the past week or two, so trolling the beach could also be an option to explore

I went out with Alvin (Kingme) yesterday from the ditch to #4. We just missed a grand slam but didnt get a steelie. I think we ended the day with 4 coho, 3 lake trout, 1 king, 1 brown. We worked 20-40 FOW with best bait depths 10-20' down. We fished mid day, so maybe would have been better earlier. Caught 3 fish right away then one here and there after that.

That is awesome. Was the king a big one? What did you use as lures?

The king as probably 4lbs or so. Baits were thin fins, jointed raps, and reg and slim spoons. Green seemed to do well.
