Fished north of portage starting in 75' starting at 5:30 am. Trolled to 92' then turned back- best water was between 65 -75 later in the a.m around 10. Also picked up some smaller bait balls with fish marked at those 65-75 depths. Ended up with 6 coho and 1 laker. Lost a bunch - at least 8-10 would not stay hooked up - the dreaded coho twist. Downriggers worked early in the am. 40-50' with copper 75-200' later in the a.m. All fish came on solid orange dodger 00 early, and yellow with orange dots 00 later in the a.m. Blue and black 2.5" flys 16-18" leads-not a sniff on any spoons. Tried for perch on the way back to the ditch out front for 2 drifts- fish are there, just not going yet. Did talk to a guy at ramp that was at black ditch area, and only got a few perch, said the same- marked many fish just not ready. Awesome morning to be out weather was perfect and flies were manageable. Fish-on!
