TOPIC:

Father/Son outing and after a couple of very slow days west this month went east to NB out of Portage. Its a 25 mile run but turned out to great decision. Left the mouth at 5:45 and first King in the box at 6:45.  For us, fishing was best with the waves, 2.3Mph at the ball, 95' - 90' feet of water, 50 - 65' down where it was between 51 - 48 degree temps.  Marked some bait but fish were hot and you can see fish on the graph moving up and down in the spread. No lip hook sets, these fish ate the lures which contributed going 10-11 for our limit.  6 Kings, 2 Coho, and 2 Steelhead.  Notable Kings were 11, 19, 22lbs, Coho was 8lbs, Steelhead 12lbs.  Aiden and I have been fishing on LM since he was 8 (now 21) and our best 2 man limit together. Almost brought a tear to the eye to have that experience with him.  NB is hot right now but who knows what tomorrow will bring as its been a really strange season so far.
