A few weeks ago I started with my first peanut fly. Due to the weather and winds I have had a bit more free time to practice and I think it's coming along nicely.

This morning I did some 2" coho flies in case we can get back on the Lake before we move to full size flies.

They look real nice Greg. How tedious is it making them?

It takes me longer to figure out what I want to tie than actually doing it. Actual start to finish for the fly is less than 5 minutes.

The tedious and repetitive part is tying up the leaders.

Where did you get your skirt materials? Flies turned out very good looking. Its fun to make them and you will make more than you could ever use before you know it.

Mostly from www.purpletacoflysupply.com/

They seemed to have the largest selection of what I wanted.

The best part of this don is all of these flies are free to me. Bonus they look legit too.

Its good to have friends who have useful skills like making sporting goods. Most of my mine want me to make their .44 magnum rounds to hunt with. Luckily there is only one of them using a 30.06 to hunt with. I don't use one but he knew I have a accurate load worked up and it is a bug hole round at 100 yds in his 700. Fortunately for me no one uses salmon flies down here but me. I am coming to the realization that I may be the only person that comes from southern IN to fish the lake. Most people I tell of my trips north don't even know salmon exist in the state. Most don't know what any of the equipment is and what it could be used for.
Safecracker has inspired me somewhat to get some of the tinsel flash materials and try to make some flies out of that instead of the flashabou I have been using. Lot more options looks like.
