I have been scouting and fishing valpo by zao island to 500 to 600 (chustak) to 700 to praxair, the hotdog stand, basspro and lake station dam. No fish no zombie fish no nothin. Everyone I've talked to says trail creek. Well if they are there why ain't they here. I'm about to burn all my creek gear because it's pointless. Getting really bumbed .hopefully a good winter steelhead run comes in.

While I don't have first hand knowledge, the dnr report indicates very few fish in trail too. Drove over Johnson road on my way to Michigan last week and there was only a couple cars there..pretty good indicator of not much happening. Sounds like more coho than anything...with a "very few" kings and steelies. It's like this all up the Michigan coast. Time will tell if any fall steelies come in. I'm afraid this will be the new "normal" for the foreseeable future. Hope I'm wrong.

If this is the way things are going to be for the foreseeable future, then I don't see any value in buying a salmon stamp if there aren't any salmon to catch.

On the bright side, I guess the salmon finally fixed the alewife problem from the 60's. Mission complete?

Creek fishing is tough, When you see new fish coming up at the weir you have a better chance of success. The longer that fish is in the creek the harder it is to catch. Trial creek is by far and away my favorite due to the sandy bottom instead of that mud in the Calumet. I also for the most part will abort the mission once I see creek temps over 70 degree's , or I find a cold water creek that dumps into Trial creek, they will stack up at that intersection. Just my 2 cents

I suspect there will be more steelies in Salt, Trail when the recent high/muddy waters settle, perhaps this weekend.
There was an excellent Skamania run on Trail as well as at MC harbor/pier in June. Also a couple great days at pier a few weeks ago following an upwelling of 50-degree water.
Warm. shallow water has been a terrible deterrent to Skamania on east branch of L. Cal. for many years

Indeed, the temperature is down to 68 because of the cool nights we had on Sunday and Monday. First time the water temp has been below 70 degrees in at least a month I think

Some kings and a few steelhead showed up in Trail Creek yesterday and today
